CCleaner 6.30.11385 - Firefox cleaning not working

I am not sure what has changed but up until about a week ago, when you custom clean FF it came up with a message ALWAYS saying it needs to close browser, then another saying it is taking too much time, you close it manually through that dialog box and it then cleans cache, history, cookies etc. As of a few days ago, neither of those dialog boxes appear, and when you have cleaned, only the Saved Form Information shows as cleaned. I can see a post 14 April complaining about those two dialog boxes but I would rather deal with them and see it cleaned, than NOT have to boxes and see it has NOT been cleaned.
Can this be fixed pronto please ?

Can you post a screenshot of the Custom Clean results window after running a Custom Clean or Analyze?

Your user privileges should now allow you to post images - you can copy/paste them from your clipboard, or save them and drag/drop, or use the upload button on the editor menubar.

PS. 6.30 is cleaning Firefox without issues on my machines.

Screenshot of how it looks after cleaning. Until recently it showed Firefox cleaning on this page. Hope this image upload works !!

Presumably you do still have things selected for cleaning from Firefox, eg.

Which ones do you have ticked?
I’m wondering if your firefox is now cleaning itself of the ones that you do have ticked, so that there is then nothing left for CCleaner to clean?

and:

One other thought on that - Are you perhaps now using Smart Cleaning to clear Firefox, so again there is nothing left for a Custom Clean?

Failing that then I would next try reinstalling CCleaner.
You can do that quite easily as follows:

  1. If you have Pro then go to Options>Licence key and make a note of your registered name and key, (you shouldn’t need it but just in case).
  2. Don’t uninstall your current CCleaner.
  3. Download a new installer from here (I usually use the ‘slim’ one it installs the same CCleaner): CCleaner - Download Builds
  4. Double click on the downloaded installer to install a new CCleaner to replace the current one, it will pick up the settings from the current one, including the licence key if you have Pro.
  5. Check to see if the new install has solved your problem.

Hi Nukecad and thank you for your prompt responses. I have all except bookmarks backup selected

I will try the reinstall this weekend.

What is so strange is that up until v recently it actually prompted me to manually close FF every time you ran custom clean. Since no upgrade to CC, I will check FF logs for latest updates and post details.

Curious do you still get manual prompt and if so which version of FF are you running ?

I’m running Firefox 133, standard version.

Usually most things Firefox have been cleaned before I run CCleaner. (I have my own batch file to clean a lot of things not just Firefox).

I don’t usually get any notifications from CCleaner to close browsers because I don’t allow background running by browsers or their add-ons.
