I've been using secure file deletion in CCleaner for years and have not had any problems with the speed in which it cleans until now. However, since upgrading to 2.xx (now using 2.10.618) I've found that it takes, on average, 9 seconds per MB using secure deletion (Simple Overwrite - 1 pass). So, for example, to delete 53 MB it takes almost 8 minutes. I used to be able to use 3 times overwrite very quickly using CCleaner 1.41.544. I have tried going back to 1.41 and everything is fine, but I'd like to use 2.10. I'm running Windows XP Professional SP2 and using IE7 on one computer and Windows XP Home SP3 and IE7 on another (both computers have the same problem using 2.10 and are fine using 1.41). Any suggestions?
