CCcleaner removes recent files in Windows 10

When I run CCleaner, it removes all the 'Recent Files' links which were listed in Windows 10 File Explorer.

The CCleaner settings have not been changed from the default.

I do not think that CCleaner should remove File Explorer's 'Recent Files' links by default.

How do you stop CCleaner removing these links?

Does anybody else have the same problem?

under Windows Explorer on the Windows tab in CC, untick all boxes.

that way, CC will not remove anything you do as far as File Explorer goes.

or with one ticked at a time, hit Analyse to see the areas a clean would affect.

Thank you for your reply to my query. As you suggested, I unticked all the boxes under Windows Explorer in CC and ran CC. It did NOT remove the Recent Files in File Explorer. Your suggestion solves my problem - thank you.

no worries, glad it worked.

and that's for the update.

I cleared all the checkboxes from the Windows Explorer section and then tested adding one back at a time. I found that it is the Taskbar Jump Lists item that causes the Recent Files to be cleared from File Explorer in Windows 10 so unchecking just that checkbox would prevent it from happening if a user wants to leave the others checked.

I am having a similar problem, but the solution above has not worked for me. Since I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10, ccleaner removes all my recent items. I have unchecked all boxes in Windows Explorer under the Windows tab, and unchecked Microsoft Office under the Applications tab. I am using the latest version of ccleaner. According to these settings, ccleaner should not clear recent items, but it does. Does anyone know what is happening?

Are you unticking them but then still using Health Check/Easy Clean?

Unticking things only works if you use Custom Clean.

HC/EC will always use its own settings regardless of what you have ticked or unticked.

Ah. That explains it. Thank you for your help.
