cccleaner not clearing cache?

We downloaded cccleaner hoping to clear up a problem when downloading. We get downloading message as NewSoftware (2), NewSoftware(3), NewSoftware(4), etc. but the download is actually just a copy of the first download, not subsequent versions. This sounded like a cache problem to me -- we cleared Temp directories and the cache in FireFox to no avail, so we downloaded cccleaner and ran it -- same result. Anyone with a suggestion would be very welcome.

If you've already downloaded the same file more than once that's the normal way Firefox works, for instance if you download a file named setup.exe it will append numbers to other downloads with the exact same file name, it prevents overwriting a needed download.

Look in your download folder and start moving stuff after it's downloaded to prevent that.
