CC7 falls short. Can I roll back?

Like many I’m unhappy with CC7 (and if it’s beta, I wasn’t asked to be a guinea-pig). Anyway. How do I roll back to previous version? It did so much more cleaning - and well. And that’s why I’ve been a customer for many years: cleaning!

One of the big attractions of CCleaner was it was simple and effective, CC7 doesn’t appear to be, I want to keep my PC running well but I don’t want to spend all day doing it. The developers at CCleaner seem to missed the point about CCleaner and taken it in another direction.

I have rolled back to 6 and will continue with that until my subscription ends, I must say I am very disappointed as I have had CCleaner for many many years, now I’ve got to go and find another simple and effective, product that works like CCleaner 6

I tried installing V6.39 but all it did was install V7. I even tried installing V6.21. That installed, but, the next time the app opens it starts to update to V7

Did you follow the instructions in the above link exactly - including disabling the automatic updating?

I feel the same way you all do I had CC professonal plus and I had the AUTO update to cc7 and do not have the time I used to have, NOR the patience used to have to screw with set up problems from a winner to a ???. Hard to get set up and no way to either get back to CC pro plus with going to screens that ALL want to sell you a new copy.

I had CC pro plus and was happy till I got the update that deleted the program and installed CC7. Like many I knew and like the old program. Now I am too old, No time, nor patience to work thru all the new problems that people seem to have.

Now I cannot get to cc pro plus or cc7 pro plus. I paid my money for the pro plus not a pushed free copy of CC7 and lots of wasted time. How can I fix this problem “pain in my Ass”.

I want to get what I paid for with out wasting a lot of time with a new program with lots of issues according to a lot of people including me.

Thanks, Jim

(CCleaner management needs to apologise - #2 by marvel5y53m)

Honestly, it’s frustrating to see so many threads here met with silence, canned responses, or no acknowledgment at all. The sheer number of posts from long-time users voicing the same complaints should have triggered a proper statement from CCleaner’s management by now — not just quiet edits and vague replies.

Instead, what we got with version 7 is a “Product Roadmap & Suggestions” announcement and a shiny new Ideas Board, inviting users to “help shape the future.” The irony is painful — the same release that stripped away long-standing Pro features, broke automation tools, and left paid customers hanging now proudly promotes a feature for collecting ideas.

It almost feels like the PM team got so carried away trying to look “Agile” that they forgot the basics of user empathy, QA, and continuity. You don’t ask customers to suggest improvements right after removing the very functions they paid for. That’s not iteration — that’s regression wrapped in a feedback form.

If this were a genuine Agile retrospective, the first action item would be simple: acknowledge the mess, apologize publicly, and fix what was broken before asking for new ideas.

Until then, no amount of “roadmaps” or “idea boards” will rebuild the trust that version 7 just erased.

You have misunderstood what Prop Plus is.

Pro Plus is not an app.
Pro Plus is a licence that allows you to use CCleaner Professional on up to 3 devices.

The app and the licence are different things.

Whatever kind of CCleaner licence/subscription that you have - Professional, Professional Plus, or Premium - the licenced CCleaner app is still the same CCleaner Professional for all 3 types or licence.

Updating the CCleaner Professsional app does no, can not, remove your Pro Plus licence.

If you have a Pro Plus licence then you have a Pro Plus Licence, full stop, and so can use CCleaner Professional (v6 or v7) on up to 3-devices.

I believe V6.39 is a paid version. I have the free version CCleaner. Your suggestion might work for the paid version but it does not work for the free version. It just installs V7

I followed Nukecads link.

Installed ccleaner version 6.39 free. Installed successfully for me

The link that I give will install v6.39 Free version.
If you have a licence key you can then enter your key to activate it as Pro.
(As you would have known if you had read the instructions, 1 to 4, that I give in that link).

It is a v6.39 installer, it does not, it can not, install v7.
However it will update itself to v7 again unless you follow the instructions and turn off automatic updating.

Schade. Ich war früher echt zufrieden.

I tried it again and it did the same thing. The installer said V6.39 but it installed V7

I don’t know what you are doing but the installer downloaded from that link installs v6.39.
(I suspect that you are not following the instructions about turning off automatic updating).
I’ve just done it again from scratch to double check that nothig has changed, see the date and time in this screenshot:

Uninstall both v6 and v7 if you have them installed.
Delete the v6.39 downloader that you already have.
Restart (not Shutdown) your computer.
Get a new v6.39 installer from the link in that roll back post.
Double click it to install v6.39; carefully following the instructions in that roll back post about running it from the installer and turning off the automatic updating.

Hi All,

I have been a user of CCleaner for many years. Version 7 lacked empathy towards many users. I found the version 7 interface convoluting and it was not an improvement on the original interface. Features like the options and advance options were gone but I did find the secure deletion. Seeing the reaction here we can say that Ccleaner is much loved and has loyal users who care enough to get intouch and vent their frustrations. Shutting the computer down after a Cclean is a brilliant option and a system restore is great. Thank you nukecad for giving us an option of rolling back to v6.39 it was good to get the interface I am used to back and an awesome Ccleaner back with all the stuff that was erased in v7.

Amen to your comments.
