When I update my CCleaner from V5.37.6390 to V5.38.6357 under Windows 10 it is only in effect at the time of the update. As soon as I close the session it reverts to 5.37 and tells me that there is an update available. I have run the update several times from the saved exe file with the same result. My anti-invasion software is the basic AVAST.
try this.
uninstall your current version first.
then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its contents
(keep the .ini file if you have customised settings)
download the latest build from here; <a href="https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds" rel="external nofollow">https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds</a>
reboot the PC then install CC from your downloaded file.
if no luck, try the install with the PC in Safe Mode.
and try the Slim or Portable builds to see if they work.</p>
Sorry for having put you to this effort. The solution was simpler. I came to realize that the V 5.38 was being updated in a different directory than the V 5.37. Once I found how to direct the update to my unique directory I was back in the running. Seasons best?
