Sorry but if you don’t fix this slowly that the cleaner constantly opens unasked to make updates (it can not be switched off in the settings) the cleaner flies down from my PC!

Hi @Knipser69,
Please can you send me a screenshot of what you see with CCleaner when this happens so I can advise you further.
Hello, here it is on “Manual”, so the update check should not open at all. Nevertheless, CC makes an update check every day, the program opens unasked. There is no entry in the Windows startup Manager. But the subject is not new…
Please update to CCleaner v7.4 and let me know if this resolves the issue for you.
Thanks, I’ll see if there is a change now.
If you continue to experience the issue, please send me a screenshot of the message you are seeing.
It’s back, I captured it as a video. Unfortunately, I can’t post attachments or pictures, but I’m happy to send it privately..
@Knipser69
I have tweaked your permissions. Try attaching now.
The cleaner works permanently in the background, and it bothers me that you can’t turn it off! Since the test period expires anyway, I will therefore uninstall. It will pop up again and again! Thanks for the help!
Thanks for these sceenshots @Knipser69, after you updated to v7.4, how often do you see these messages?
Once a day.

If you run into any problems or have questions, please let me know.
I too am getting this issue, one in fact that has happened for a couple of months. Every now and then ccleaner starts on booting up the syatem. There is no setting within the program asking if i want it to do so, there is nothing showing in startup (noticed this with a couple of other programs like the nvidia app as well), I want the option to run the program when i want to. I go so cheesed of with it autostarting i uninstalled it, and lo and behold my microsoft office programs would no longer start, adobe would not start, and worse because of this i was unable to access important documents for a house i am buying, lots of pdfs involved, and unable to open important excel docs or word docs. It kept on coming up with an error saying windows could not find the documents i was trying to open at the location path, even though they where right there in front of me. I had to do a scannow, which cleared up some corruption, but they still would not open. So i reinstalled ccleaner 7 and what do you know they would all open.
So?? What is the solution? You made it better by hiding the “Auto update” option? AND - it starts at BOOT EVERYTIME now? Hope there is a fix - or I will jut switch to a competing piece of software I have read is JUST AS GOOD -
You were rolling along for YEARS - never had a problem. NOW, you “improve” it and make it SO BAD - “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” - you should plaster that on office wall
Hi @dhoomagen & @pcamps4,
This issue was fixed in the v7.4 update.
Please make sure you are on the latest version by going to Settings> Updates on the left side of CCleaner.
which issue? the automatic start one without the option to have it going on boot up or the issue of if unistalled it causes the problem with making psdf, word docs, excell etc unusable ? (btw i had the 7.4 version as always kept it up to date
@dhoomagen The issue that was resolved was users getting the CCleaner is up to date message whenever CCleaner started, which was reported in this thread.
To answer your question about CCleaner starting on boot, CCleaner is now a service and so will always start on boot of the PC.
The issue you are experiencing with PDFs, Word docs, and Excel sheets may be due to Performance Optimizer not waking these apps on uninstallation of CCleaner, so please try to wake these apps in Performance Optimizer before uninstalling CCleaner.
Got the same problem here. It starts by itself on computer boot and the only way to shut it off is through task manager.Even then it returns for 3 times before it shuts down. There is also an ad displaying down the bottom of of the screen. I didn’t pay to get ads displayed.
