i was just wodering if i need to keep all the backups i have made with CC or can i just keep the lastest ones

And to restore them do u just click merge ?

I keep them until at such a point I decide I have so many, that I really should delete some (I tend to forget about them accumulating).

Then I delete any that are over a month old.

To restore them you do indeed just click merge.
