Can't Update CCleaner, Windows 7 - help?

Greetings all ~

I use the free version of CCleaner on both my Windows 8 and Windows 7 laptops. I have no problem with Win 8, but on my Win 7 laptop, I have not been able to update CCleaner past version 4.01.

I can download the updates just fine, but when I go to install, I get as far as chosing the Install Options, click Next … and it just hangs on the next screen. All I see then is a blank white window with an advert on top that says “CC Cleaner recommends Google Chrome.” I do NOT have this problem on my Win 8 machine, so I’m baffled why I’m running into this with the Win7 one.

Any ideas or helps?

It does not matter if I access the download through Firefox or IE, I still run into the same problem on install. And no, I’m not switching to Google Chrome. ;)

HALP!

Have you tried just downloading and installing the slim build? It's ccleaner without any offers.

My OS is Windows 7 Pro, SP1. I'm trying to update CCleaner to version 4.11.4619 free version but ESET 7 keeps sending the following message: "Win32/Bundled.Toolbar.Google.D potentially unsafe application," then the downloaded file goes into Quarantine. I've updated CCleaner many, many times without problems but am hitting a brick wall now. Does this "Google.D" thing have some negative effect? Using Filehippo. Help appreciated.

@redfox, sounds like ESET is playing safe and flagging the bundled google toolbar offered in the free version as unsafe.

try the slim or portable builds and get them from Piriform first then FileHippo if Piriform for some reason fails.
