hi i installed and used ccleaner on a pc with win vista 32 bit and after the cleaning the pc couldn't read online flash videos. any help plz ? reinstalling flash player didn't work.
What Browser?
if internet explorer try this, from within IE go to tools>Delete Browsing history
uncheck everything, except "temporary internet files" but including "preserve favorites data" (yes that should also be unchecked
hit delete
go to a site with flash (such as youtube)
Videos should now work
(note this is not the fault of ccleaner per se, it's a cache corruption that happens with many/most 3rd party cache cleaners)
browser is firefox 7, IE doesn't work.
If u do not have any saved favorites or passwords, I would uninstall:
- Firefox fully, including the user data in the application folder.
- Internet Explorer & Firefox flash (being sure that both browsers are closed first).
If u have data, I would back it up using something like Moz Backup, or perhaps run Firefox uninstaller, being certain you DO NOT select the user data (which would erase all bookmarks, saved passwords, etc).
After u have taken care of this, I would visit File Hippo in Internet Explorer, download the stable version of Firefox 7, then download also both IE & FF flash programs & install those.
You may be unable to play flash if your flash version gets behind, as also, a damaged firefox profile will cause this at times, or even a profile that was created by a very early version of FF, only to be upgraded by newer versions until Firefox changes the way it interacts with certain elements of it, causing a similar problem.
Try the above listed solution & see if it works.
superfast, respectfully, that is an extreme method at this point is the game.
lets save his steps for a little later when we exhausted some simpler fixes.
Did you only run the cleaning section or did you run the registry section as well?
try this go to adobe dot com and run the installer for flash
what sections do you have checked off in your ccleaner
also I can't get my head around your post
you make two statements in answer to my question
browser is firefox
Is this the browser broken by the cleaning?
IE doesn't work
or is this? If it's not IE what do you mean by "doesn't work"
i ran only basic cleaning section with default things checked.
but it was kinda long coz the pc is never cleaned and bunch of useless things are running on background and the pc is old too. so i stoped at 33% and it had already deleted 8 gigs of bulls**t.
IE doesnt work on this PC and it's not due to ccleaner, it's not the problem.
well i guess reinstalling firefox + flash should fix.
but it's kinda rude, you wanna help a friend to speed up a bit his PC and it ends up with him calling you telling you "man wtf u did to my computer??" "lol
i really thought ccleaner was inoffensive
sounds like something was being vacuum cleaned or compressed (the Firefox section does both of those things) at the time of the "this is taking too long, I'm going to abort in the middle". That said I don't think you need to reinstall Firefox, Just flash. I also don't think this will be recreatable, unless you abort again and it randomly is at the same point.
don't feel to bad about a small thing like this, I once upgraded someone from win98 to winxp, he assured me of backups I formated his drive and ended up killing thousands of his professional photography. This was before programs like recuva, when it cost hundreds of $ to recover from a format.
