c:\windows\temp

Does CCleaner make any attempt to clean this folder? If it doesn't it would be handy if it could.

If you have a check mark in that option in CCleaners list, yes that folder is cleaned. If you copy/paste the path below into Run the folder will open. Then run CCleaner. Now you can sit and watch the files in the temp folder disappear as CCleaner progressses.

c:\windows\temp

It will leave 2 DAT files behind. They are supposed to be there.

Some files were removed but not all the folders. I assume thats because of uninstallers etc.

Depending of what folders we're talking about you could always delete them yourself. Often times recidue from old uninstalled programs can be scattered all over ones PC. Maybe slightly exaggerated but I'm irritated that so many uninstallers are so inefficient.

But: be careful...

Just to add an extra bit of hopefully useful info.

That folder will be carrying some folders or files still in use by the OS. As an example Avast has a folder inside that folder, and I always have a couple of Perflib_Perfdata_4*4.dat files in there.

One Perflib is always deleted by CCleaner, while one is always in use and is left alone.

Thanks, DennisD. That was useful information to me. :D
