Bugs in General Options and Drive List Display

The intent of unchecking the "Show SSD Drives" box is to hide SSD drives from view, presumably to eliminate the possibility of selecting them for defraging.

However, unchecking this box only hides the first partition on an SSD drive. Other partitions on the SSD drive are still visible in the drive list. In the Attached jpg my Local Disk (D:) drive a partition on an SSD.

Also, my Local Disk (Y:) drive is a HDD, but it is identified with "SSD Detected" in the Status column.

It would seem the Show SSD drives doesn't work on all PC's.

I have an unpartitioned SSD as C:\, DF shows it as Ready - SSD Detected but even with the Show SSD drives not ticked, the C:\ still shows up in the list of available drives.

I've tried reinstalling DF, ticking, unticking, it always shows up.

Conversely, I also have a floppy drive, have that option not ticked and it doesn't show up in the list. So it works on that one.

(but still spins up the drive and performs an attempted read of the disk when DF is started or a different drive is selected - but thats another problem http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=36997&hl=floppy)

I just live with it, it's no biggie and doesn't effect the running of DF.

I've put it down as an undesirable feature rather than a bug.

The problem is not 'across the board' and just effects the lucky few.

update.

Show SSD Drives is now working.

Haven't changed the DF version, but just ran CC4 reg cleaner and went into DF for some maintenance and noticed my SSD was no longer listed.

problem sorted. (for me)

if those users who had this issue want to try the same sequence, do a reg clean at your own risk of course - cleaning the registry is never 100% safe.
