Browser Files Remaining After Ccleaner Says They Were Deleted

I have just started using Ccleaner 6.02.9938 under Windows 10. Under applications, I have it clean Firefox internet cache, cookies, and history and under system, I have it clean Edge Chromium history, cache, and cookies. After running Ccleaner, I get the messages saying that cleaning was complete and showed the numbers of files deleted in each category. When I restart Firefox however the history is gone but all of my tabs and pages are still there. On the other hand, in Edge, the tabs and pages are all gone but the history is still present and I can reload them that way.

I have been using Ccleaner for years and have never run into this problem using older versions. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here? I have made sure the browsers were completely closed when running Ccleaner each time.

Ae you using Health Check or Custom Clean?

If it's Custom Clean then check what you have ticked/unticked for each of the browsers.

'Internet History' is obvious, but what tabs/pages are open (and whether you remain logged into them or not) is cleared by 'Session'.

Also make sure that for Edge you are selecting them in the right Edge, for most people that will be 'Edge Chromium' and not the older 'Microsoft Edge'.

The other thing to check is whether the browsers are synced or not. (Although from what you say it doesn't sound like it).

If a browser is synced then what CCleaner clears for that browser from your machine will be brought back again from the cloud by the syncing.

Thanks for the prompt response. I had indeed overlooked checking "sessions" in FF. Doing that fixed the problem. Also, moving to Edge "Chromium" fixed the problem.

And you are correct. The browsers aren't synced.
