I have a suggestion: if you get an update notice for Ccleaner, and you run it, but then Ccleaner says you already have the latest version, watch out, that was probably not from Ccleaner. And, if I give you the information, can you tell my credit card source that the charge is not from you, do not pay it?
usually the onus is on the buyer to contact the card company, I’ve never heard of a retailer intervening on the behalf of a customer.
nonetheless this is a user forum and we can not provide aid for payment accounts. i will note that an update did in fact happen on 28 may 2025 (pacific time)
There is no charge for updates to a new CCleaner version, they happen (about monthly) for free.
Are you talking about something else?
Maybe a yearly subscription renewal?
NB. Don’t post any reference numbers or other private details here.
When you say “update notice” then just what kind of notification was it:
An email? A Windows notification (bottom right)? A pop-up in CCClener itself? Something else?
Thanks for the reply. From the point of view of the card company, it looks like an ordinary transaction, so I suppose I could notify the vendor and ask them to do a refund. I do have a reply now from
Korine May from the CCleaner Customer Care Team
asking for some information, which I think I can provide.
And saying:
there is no active subscription associated with your email address, ** I deleted that **. Additionally, there are no pending charges made under this account
As you can see, I am also replying to nukecad.
Thanks for the reply.
I really didn’t pay a lot of attention to it. As I recall, it was a popup, and not while I was running Ccleaner. I usually do not delete emails, and I don’t see any around that date. I responded as usual, told it go ahead with the update, but it said I had the latest version. It is v6.35.11488. Do you know when that one came out? I used to put a note in the file about updates but I got tired of doing that and never needed them - as the old saying goes, that is ok until it isn’t.
The .exe files are all 9 April, but a few others are 28 May, such as some DUState files.
As you can see, I also replied to Nergal. And I will reply to customer service.
6.35.11488 was released on 16th April.
The release dates are quite easy to find, look at the top of the forum and you’ll see ‘Announcements’ - click on it and it gives you the page where new versions are announced.
However it’s still not clear here if you have actually paid anything?
You don’t mention making any payment or giving any payment details.
So again - Have you actually been billed for anything? Or Charged for anything?
You only mention seeing a version update notice pop-up, and I think that I have worked out what you describe seeing.
Do you have both of these options ticked? (You should really only tick one or neither).
The top one if ticked updates your CCleaner version automatically for you.
The bottom one if ticked sends you notifications when an update is available.
(Most people want one ticked, the other ticked, or neither ticked.)
So to me it sounds as if you had both ticked, and so both happened.
You got a notification that there was an update available, and you also got the update automatically.
So when you tried to update again from the notification it of course said that you already had the new version.
