Best Defragger for average non-tech user?

Hello,

I am a new member.

I really enjoy CCleaner and am considering Defraggler.

I have been using JKDefrag, but I guess I am always looking for "new and better" programs.

For the average computer user, which would be the best choice? I have no special needs or problems regarding defragging, and don't see any special

need to pick particular files to defrag.

Thank you very much.

Hello Rob,

If you have already been using JkDefrag.I would use the option to sort on name.

Then read the following.

I researched, investigated and came to the following conclusions as regards the average PC user.

Davey,

Thanks very much!!! You have really helped me.

thanks for those pointers davey! I've often wondered which was the best defrag program for me to use. I have used JKDefrag in the past but I don't normally have too much defragmentation and only defrag once or twice a month at the most. I use Defraggler rather than Windows own Disk Defragmenter though.

I meant to say - I don't like the inbuilt Disk Defragmenter in Windows Vista though. In XP on my PC it's fine (I just prefer Defraggler because it is easier to use) but in Vista on my laptop it seems to take ages to analyze, let alone defrag. So for Vista I definitely prefer Defraggler.

Hi Robbie,

I understand what you are saying.

I can't speak for Vista myself.I do know that there are improved defrag strategies included in the Vista

Windows Disk Defragmenter. You should be seeing improved performance not less.I hope that you have not inadvertently changed something that decreases the Windows optimizing strategies. It does a lot of things in the background that you don't even realize unless you keep tabs on it constantly.

I have come to the conclusion that most users can get along fine with Windows Disk Defragmenter.

Defraggler is a great defrag program.I use it to defrag certain files that I know will benefit my users PC performance.Other than that I leave it up to Windows built in optimization strategies.

My users voice their agreement that within a couple of days their PC just seems to improve itself.

They know that I must have had a little to do with it.That's enough satisfaction for me.
