I currently use SyncBack as my backup app but was wondering if anyone is aware of any other free alternatives. Also anyone know a way i can automate 7-Zip to compress a folder at a set time, thanks.
Not really sure what you are backing up englishmen, but I use this power tool, synctoy
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en.
I can back up all my music and photos etc with 2 clicks ( after setting up the folders). It is the easiest thing I've ever used.
A few different options are available, I chose echo as i wanted the files on my external drive to be a mirror of the files on my c drive.
For backups I use a homemade batch file that automagically copies with verification. A batch file can do some powerful stuff like delete junk files beforehand either by specifying what to delete or by calling CCleaner.exe /AUTO, virus scan, Contig, etc.
Depends what your needs are. Right-click on folder, and click "Compress to archive" once in a while, shouldnt be all too difficult.

I thought this one looked interesting, but I've never tried it: Karen's Replicator http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptreplicator.asp
Thanks for the suggestions, i was hoping to automate the backup of selected files/folder to a single compressed file to another drive.

I have used this program for about 6 months now to back up other computers in my home to my main systems extra HD along with my own stuff. Has worked great so far.
Karen's Replicator does make automatic backups. I don't know how you'd go about automatically compressing them, maybe you should ask KarenThanks for the suggestions, i was hoping to automate the backup of selected files/folder to a single compressed file to another drive.
