AVG Scan History

I have the latest version of the ccleaner and also have my desktop PC protected by the AVG 9.0.851.

The forum should know that I have made a unhappy discovery. Running the AVG tick on Applications goes to the AVG program in a very aggressive way.

Not only does my record of visited sites get wiped clean - a good thing but :

ALL RECORD OF SCAN RESULTS IS ALSO WIPED. I have tried many variables to test this and I have now reached this conclusion. On a ccleaner scan using the default selection of Applications I end up with my (paid-for) AVG saying a) I have not yet scanned this computer and B) the event history is wiped when it should retain 1 months worth of details.

In conclusion I have now had to untick the AVG Application from the list of available functions which ccleaner will empty.

I know that AVG keeps a log of each site I visit by putting it into a Temp file. I would love to be able to empty this without emptying the scan history as well.

Hi, Dan112. :)

It is probably not a good idea to post your email address like that, and certainly not a good idea for present members to click on it.

If you have configured your settings to allow it, you will be notified by email of any replies to this thread, so it isn't necessary.

  1. Start CCleaner.
  2. Click: Options -> Exclude
  3. Input the AVG 9 folder path to exclude which contains those logs, should be somewhere under this hidden folder location:

    %allusersprofile%\Application Data\avg9

i reaad this bit over and over again lol

  2. Click: Options -> Exclude
  3. Input the AVG 9 folder path to exclude which contains those logs, should be somewhere under this hidden folder location:

    %allusersprofile%\Application Data\avg9

I have input the above - right down to "logs" and I will do the following. I will perform a non-scheduled AVG scan tomorrow and will try to run the ccleaner afterwards. If it is still showing as "AVG 60MB" then I will have to include all the files within AVG9.

Thank you - I MIGHT be getting somewhere!

Good News!

Thanks to a help desk and 30 minutes of semi-forensic testing of the AVG components I have now set up the system properly.

To aid others I can reveal that under ccleaner options you need to exclude the following:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\avg9\Log and:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ Application Data\avg9\scanlogs

With the AVG9 Application ticked the ccleaner will erase the history of web addresses visited but will leave the history of computer scans and the Event history untouched.

I would imagine that given the profile of AVG there will be many users of ccleaner who have that antivirus programme. This post should therefore be a useful reference point

From a happy Dan :D :D
