AutoRun/Autoclean

Dear Group, as a new user of this program i have nothing but praise for it. However i do have one question that maybe you can help me with. I have tried out competing software programs and they all have the facility to automagically do their stuff.

However, the ones i have tried all do their cleaning on the PC shutdown cycle whereas Ccleaner does it on startup.. can you tell me why that is please?

Many thanks

See some command line options here

Thank you, thats very interesting but what i wanted to know is why the default program scans at boot rather than shutdown?

The /AUTO command line parameter tells CCleaner to scan then shut down... I am not sure I understand what you mean?

It doesn't scan at boot by default.

Have you by any chance got 'run ccleaner when the computer starts' in options>settings?

Sorry, maybe i didn't explain myself. Tools/Settings/ Run Ccleaner when the computer starts.

All i was wondering is why on start and not on finish?

Yes i have, but i merely wondered why you can set it to scan at boot if you wish and not at finish. I'm sure there must be a perfectly valid reason.

Well there isn't a checkbox for that setting BUT the command line parameter /AUTO allows you to scan and then shutdown automatically. Outside of that, I can't provide you with a clear explanation of why the developers decided not to make a checkbox setting for it.

May have something to with the fact that some things are held in temp files and need a reboot to 'apply' them.
