I had it on my calendar to cancel automatic renewal a week before the renewal date of 3/15/25. I contacted support, and the following email string ensued:
Thank you for your response.
A few things:
-
I am not “overwhelmed” and “confused” about the renewal process.
-
The renewal price is listed as $49.99 on your web site, not $59.99.
-
I have searched my email for all references of Cleverbridge, and there was no prior warning about the “automatic renewal service” (and yes, I checked my junk email) just the notification that the order has been processed.
-
The invoice from Cleverbridge does not indicate how the charge can be “easily be cancelled from your payment confirmation email”. There is a link to your email support web page for “Order and payment support”, which I used to initiate this request.
-
Your stated reasoning for billing 30 days prior to the renewal date is uninformed at best, but more likely disingenuous and deceitful. It does not take 30 days to process a payment, even if the payment method has an “issue”. In fact, you are fully aware of credit card expiration dates since you note it on the Account Overview page. I can’t imagine that a user would cancel their credit card just to avoid a reoccurring charge. Even the Invoice states the renewal “started” on 3/15/25. Not “will start”.
I’m hesitant to activate the renewal in the hopes of using your 30-day money back guarantee based on this level of support. Please cancel this order and issue a refund.

I understand how frustrating it can be to discover an unexpected charge; it can feel overwhelming and lead to confusion about what happened as you mention you got charge for renewal early that your expiration date reason you want to have refund. Please know that we’re here to help resolve this issue for you.
Checking on your account, the recent charge of $66.12 is for the renewal of CCleaner Professional Plus.
By default, when a CCleaner license is purchased from us, you will be placed onto an automatic renewal subscription service. We process the automatic license renewal transactions 30 days in advance because in the situation there is an issue with the payment method being used for the subscription, our customers will have the opportunity to correct the problem prior to the license expiration, helping to ensure coverage of CCleaner is not lost.
Furthermore, our eCommerce partner Cleverbridge will send an email prior to when the automatic renewal billing event occurs to inform our customer’s of what will happen, providing a link to cancel the subscription in case it is not wanted.
However it can easily be cancelled from your payment confirmation email. You get this shortly after you buy a subscription license from our website from our payment provider Cleverbridge.
Blah, blah, blah.
