Why isn't it possible to run the registry cleaner unattended through the /auto command line switch?
It would be extremely practical and would allow to have computer maintenance which is perfectly free from user input.

I saw the double post earlier and didn't realise just then that you'd since edited one of them. In fact this one, and I deleted the other.
You can either post again, or I can answer the question about automating CCleaners "Issues" (registry) feature.
I can't see it ever happening as there are too many critical problems that can arise with cleaning the registry.
It has been asked for before, but we get too many people coming on here with problems arising even when they've carefully watched the scanning and fixing process, that I would anticipate those numbers rising very quickly if registry cleaning was carried out "unsupervised" so to speak.

Don't worry about deleting the other post, I rephrased my questions here.
I understand the concern you raise, and I know that registry cleaning is something touchy.
I thought that maybe it could be useful to advanced users, who are aware of the risk of reg cleaning but who still want to do it in the most non-intrusive manner.
I thought about it because through a scripting language (the powerful autohotkey) and various utilities I've been able to completely automate my computer's maintenance, everything I deem useful is scheduled, junk files are deleted automatically, the registry is defragmented etc etc.
The last step would be to have reg cleaning run unattended, then all clean-up operations would be performed absolutely automatically.
I hope that it can be considered in the future, maybe with some extra warnings and disclaimers in the doc files.

Advanced user or normal user should never just auto a registry clean.
And why not? Users should do whatever they like, if they do something wrong it's their problem. If a tool provides them with the means of making a mess, you can't blame the tool, can you?
I think anything that can be automated on a computer should - then it's up to you to keep an eye on it or let it run unattended.

When you do reg cleaning, you already run this risk. Very few people who do reg cleaning actually *check* what the tool remove, but they are aware it can go wrong. It can go wrong all the same regardless of the fact you can see a progress bar or not.
If reg cleaning goes wrong, it's usually because the tool is too aggressive and picks up essential keys to delete.
But by making a auto feature it's encouraging people not to check. I check every item. I would never blindly remove any thing.
There will always be people just deleting entrys with out checking first, there is nothing any body can do about that. While ccleaner is at safe end, as safe as registry cleaning can be it's still not safe to just delete what ever it finds.
This is of course just my opinion. I'm sure there are many people who would like this feature. And yes it's there choice and there computer to do freely what they want with.

If you want an automated registry cleaner there are various tools available that do just that, but I'd never personally trust them.
Even though CCleaner has a safe registry cleaner I do have exclusions for it to ignore which I don't think should ever be cleaned, and if it were automated just how would anyone see something suspicious like a false detection that they may just want to exclude.
