Ask to keep settings

Hello

I just uninstalled CCleaner to download new version and install that. Then I noticed that my settings such as which cookies to keep were gone.

I think that it would be good that when I uninstall CCleaner, it ask me if I wish to keep the settings file so that when I install it again, I wont have to specify yet again which cookies to keep.

If the CCleaner settings can be saved to an INI file, that would be useful. Or even a method to "Save Settings..." and choose as a registry backup or ini file. INI's are a lot safer though. :D

That's one reason why I just over-install newer versions, hence the settings remain intact.

It would be nice if CCleaner could export the settings to a .reg file just like WinRAR does, and if doing a clean install it could recognise that .reg file and automatically import it again just like WinRAR does.

I dont know if I remember wrong, but I think I heard somewhere that its adviced not to install CCleaner over a current installation.

I've always installed over the top of the previous version, never had any problems.

Well that would be a thread or post I've missed, however as a precaution every 5 or so new versions I do a clean install.

As Greenight said,I myself have always installed on top of the older version and never had any problems. :)

I actually have a fix to that problem. You can backup your CCleaner settings with the new feature VBScript.

Problem with VBScripts is that they are one key source of virus transmitting.
