Any questions regarding the Site Upgrade Notification?

Hi,

If you have any questions regarding the Site Upgrade notification, please post in this thread. This way, it will be easier to track. Thank you.

Hi @Gayathri CCleaner :

Is parent company Gen Digital migrating all its subsidiary companies like Norton, Avast, CCleaner, etc. to the same software platform for their respective user forums?

I hope not, because the "revamped" Norton Community that went live a few months ago (see employee Gayathri_R's 31-May-2024 announcement at Welcome to the Norton Community! ) is horrible. Norton basically started a new forum from scratch (e.g., all the "old" topics were archived and links to those old topics have been broken). Longtime Norton users who do not have a Guru (expert user) badge have also been demoted down to the status of "newbie" and won't have sufficient privileges to do basic tasks (e.g., insert an image in a post) in the revamped forum until they have created a minimum number of replies. Unfortunately, that doesn't begin to cover other bugs and glitches I've already encountered with that software platform after only a few posts.

Upgrading it to what platform?

Just as I feared. The new platform for the CCleaner Community (https://community.ccleaner.com/) looks almost identical to the buggy, user-unfriendly platform that Gen Digital switched to in June 2024 for the Norton Community (https://community.norton.com/). What a shame.

I also find it buggy and a pain to use.
To log in I have to send a link to my email
Sign in dose not work, username and password not recognized.

@dropdeadfred the link in email is a one time thing, once you’re in reset your password (you can use your previous password in it no restriction on that). Now you can sign in regular

Thanks Nergal
My bad :ok_hand:

@dropdeadfred I believe that it’s simply because they couldn’t transfer the user passwords from the old software platform to the new platform - because the passwords were encrypted.

So you need to register a password for your account here, using the reset password option.
You can re-use your old password, if it’s long enough.

When you think about it’s good to know that your CCleaner Forum password was encrypted/protected in that way.
