Adding cleaning of "index.dat" (MS internet explorer)

I suggest to add a cleaning routine for the index.dat of the Microsoft internet explorer.

- Like the "old" software "index.dat" does. -

Kind Regards,

Michael

Are you saying that there is some part of CC's Index.dat cleaning that you find lacking?

Thanks for your fast response!

1.

I installed Ccleaner, latest version.

2.

I marked everything to be deleted. It worked well, so far.

3.

After that cleaning process, I started "index.dat" to clean the "index.dat" of MS internet explorer.

This cleaning showed a lot of entries in the "index.dat" to be cleaned, although Ccleaner has been run before.

-----

Therefore, I do assume, that Ccleaner does not clean the "index.dat" of MS internet explorer.

Am I wrong?

Kind Regards,

Michael

I have around 20+ index.dat files on my pc. CC cleans a specific subset of these, including that used by IE. We would need to know what Windows version you're running, what index.dat file that isn't being cleaned, and what CC option you're using.

I am using "MS Windows 7" + "MS Internet Explorer 8.0"

I am aware the 8.0 is outdated. Primarily, I am using Opera. Just in case, Opera has trouble with a site, script or whatsoever, I am switching to the MS Internet Explorer and after back to Opera, again.

I cleaned index.dat for MS Internet Explorer, using Ccleaner 3.27. After that, I started the freeware "index.dat" and it found the following index.dat files (MS Internet Explorer) not cleaned:

-----

appdata\local\microsoft\windows\temporary internet files\content.ie5\index.dat

appdata\local\temp\temporary internet file\content.ie5\index.dat

appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows\iecompatcache\low\index.dat

I may be wrong, but I don't think that these three files are relevant to browsing under your username. If the contents aren't being updated with your browsing data, then don't worry about them.

OK

Thank you!
