"add new hardware" wizard MRU

Hi,

if you want, in a next release you can add this feature (for MRU deleting) in CC

Installation Sources => REG_MULTI_SZ entries

in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

This device list pops up when you use "add new hardware" wizard.

After months or year this list is so full, and I have to swipe it manually.

Thanks.

Sisto

Thanks, Sisto. The developers read all threads so I'm sure they will look into your suggestion.

If you use winapp2.ini (the community cleaning file) I've made this for it, and have tested it.
It's available under: Applications -> Windows
You'll have to enable it for it to be cleaned.
[Add New Hardware Wizard (MRU)*]
LangSecRef=3025
Default=False
Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
RegKey1=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup|Installation Sources

I've submitted the cleaning routine to the winapp2.ini file, seen here.

I don't have that string (Installation sources) under Win7 x64.

XP I think.

I have it on Win7 64bit but only one entry in there.

I have it on Win7 64bit but only one entry in there.

I only had one entry there myself for my new NIC card which I'll probably never reinstall the drivers for, although I didn't know anything about that MRU location.

That key exists from win xp, then vista, 7 (imagine also 8), 32 or 64.

From 13 year I have to delete in every pc I used.

If you want see it, go to

add new hardware (starting from add legacy driver or where you want

select the device driver you want ....

have disk button

browse...

and list pops up (with last MRU)

Sometime list got 20-30 entries... that's beautiful after swiping it, all blank!

Thanks for feedback
