Access iCloud Photo Library

How do I add my iCloud Photos for CCleaner to analyse and check for duplicates? There is no option in the add folders to include the photo library on iCloud.

I’m not aware of that being capable in CCleaner. (I could be wrong.)

There’s a way to do that within the Photos app:

  1. Go to the Photos app on your Mac.

  2. Click next to Utilities in the sidebar, then click Duplicates. If you’re using iCloud Shared Photo Library, click the Library pop-up menu in the toolbar, then choose Both Libraries.

  3. Select the duplicates you want to merge. You can select individual items in a single row and merge them, or select multiple rows of duplicates and merge them all at once.

  4. Click Merge [number] Items. One original photo or video appears where the selected duplicates were located in your library. Deleted duplicates appear in Recently Deleted, where you can recover them within 30 days or permanently delete them.

Other than requiring more time to do this, Photos will consider very similar photos to be duplicates.

I have no idea if these apply or work. Oh, great – screenshots are not allowed here even though there’s an upload button.

Go to the Settings section and click Scanning. There’s a “Finding duplicates” option.

Click the icon that appears as a “mountain scene.” That’s the Photo analyzer. There’s a “Find similar photos” option there. Click Find Photos. There’s an ADD button on the next screen. I was able to select iCloud and then select individual folders that contain photos, but wasn’t brave enough to do the scan. I’ve lost things in the past due to the poor functionality of this app.

@JohnApple as with many/most fora new users here have to interact with the forum for a while before they are allowed to post images or weblinks.
It’s a common anti-spammer measure that does prevent a lot of spam postings cluttering up fora.

You had already started on that path and had moved Trust Level from ‘New user’ to ‘Basic user’.

However I have accelerated things for you and have tweaked you status to ‘Member’ so you should now be able to post images.

Thanks! Still don’t see Photos in the iCloud section of Finder, but I’m guessing I just need to keep digging.

Sorry I don’t have a clue about the iPhone version of CCleaner.
(or of IPhones come to that).

CCleaner can’t directly access iCloud Photos unless they’re downloaded to your computer. Make sure your iCloud Photos are set to download to your PC/Mac, then add that local folder to CCleaner for duplicate check.
