Hi
Since installing the above version cCleaner isn’t clearing my Chrome history. ‘History’ is tickled in options an Chrome isn’t running in the background or syncing. I have to manually clear the history from within Chrome each time.
Is this a new issue?
Thanks
Philip
We have had a few similar reports.
Both CCleaner and Chrome got updated on consequtive days, on the 27th and 28th of May.
It appears that the new Chrome version (137) has changed where it stores some things, and so the CCleaner developers now have to catch up with what has been changed.
It happens now and again with Chrome, Firefox, and other browser. and when it does we just have to wait for the CCleaner devs to catch up where the broswer is now putting it’s caches, logfiles, etc.
TBH though that’s usually not until the next months CCleaner update is released.
It’s unusual to put a special update out, but it does sometimes happen.
So you will probably have to put up with it for (at least) 3 or 4 weeks until v6.37 is released
Thanks for the update - much appreciated
This is affecting me too, same setup as described by the OP.
Any estimate from the developers on when this will be fixed would be great.
In case CCleaner devs monitor these forums, or in case anyone has any idea on their release schedule, I’m wondering when a new version will be released that cleans Chrome history again. Thanks.
6.37 was released but History still not being cleaned in Edge and Brave, etc.
This is happening on the latest chromium 138.0.7204.49 with the latest ccleaner for windows.
Happens on any chromium browser, Chrome, Brave etc.
Same here, not cleaning, it’s become useless
Also not working in the latest version v6.37.11523
Does the team read these posts?
Do they even know this is happening as we haven’t had a comment by any staff to say they are working on this, but not sure if they ever do post on here.
But does anyone know if they are working on it?
We get that it is because chromium changed, but ccleaner has to change too to be able to work.
But anyway, I just hope someone is actually working on it.
It’s been MONTHS now. It started in MAY.
As a side note:
I made a thread about this happening on all versions of ccleaner but mine got closed due to this thread being similar.
I said on my thread that a mod said that it might get fixed in v6.37 and they replied to my closed thread saying they never said that, but they kind of did in post 2 on this thread "*So you will probably have to put up with it for (at least) 3 or 4 weeks until v6.37 is released*".
That is all I meant, that they said it could be fixed in v6.37 and all I was saying is that didn't happen.

This issue may not be CCleaner or Chrome after all:
Are any/all of you running ESET Internet Security?
If so then a solution has been found on another thread where Firefox files were suddenly not being cleaned for a user.
It was found there that a recent change to ESET Internet Security was blocking the cleaning of browser files.
The solution was simply to make CCleaner an exception in ESET’s “Browser Protection” feature.
The anomaly is caused by the ESET Internet Security software, specifically the “Browser Protection” feature. Since version 18.2.14.0, this feature locks the {browser} profile for editing, even when it is closed.
This explains the inability to delete {browser} files. When I included CCleaner in the exceptions of the aforementioned Browser Protection feature and ran the cleanup, everything it has was properly deleted …
I do note that the reports here pre-date that ESET changelog, so it may not be the same cause here.
However if any of you are running a 3rd party AV then it may be worth checking that it is not doing similar and blocking CCleaner from cleaning your browser files.
I’m not using ESET Internet Security. Windows 10 x64. The only Windows Security software I’m using is Windows native antivirus software with current updates.
Same here, not using ESET Internet Security. problem on both my PCs, one with Windows 10 x64 and one with Windows 11 x64. The only Windows Security software I’m using is Windows native antivirus software with current updates.
CCCcleaner is not deleting browsing history for over a month now.
Not using ESET or any other third party AV software, just Windows Security, windows 11
Thanks for the replies, like I said it was just a possibility to be checked.
TBH I’m a bit surprised that we are not seeing more complaints about this - If Chrome is not being cleaned for everybody then I’d expect to see more?
This is still an issue for me on any Windows device running Chrome. CCleaner is not removing browsing history, which makes the tool a lot less useful. I am not running ESET on any device either.
Same still not working.
I also tried 3 laptops now and asked some friends to try and 4 of them said it doesn’t work for them either.
So it affects everyone.
I think some just don’t bother posting in here as you have to register to post, plus some maybe aren’t aware, but it affects everyone 100%.
You can try it on a fresh install and install any chromium browser and it won’t clean the history.
Still same issue with me and I just renewed (paid) my the PRO version !
I think they had enough time to dig into this
Maybe I can ask for a refund as I do not get the impression that CCleaner is taking this problem serious ?
ok so I got a reply from CCleaner
I went on X and raised this issue and they said they are fixing it in the next release!
Great news on a fix coming soon. Thanks much.
