The grandma killed the Internet!
Those are not all the possibilities that can kill the Internet. There are countless possibilities.
One thing that I could say scientifically to put off the Internet for a long time and even cripple the modern world and its economy would be a solar storm. If the sun would have a solar storm, the type of radiation that it will emit will destroy communication satellites and basically ALL electronic devices in the world. It is harmless for humans but the opposite for electronics, imagine, no TV, no computers no cellphones, NO Internet.
Yeah a big enough solar storm could indeed cause that, and effectively knock the world back into the stone ages. With no electric guitar or PS3 I'd have to be committed to a mental institution, or create a new genre Acoustic Metal - no maybe not.

Don't worry about metal, mate. You can still use all the classic instruments that don't require electricity like pianos, drums and percussion, and acoustic guitars. You can try playing the metal songs on acoustic guitars, maybe they will still sound good.
The next solar storm might happen in 2012 so better pack all you need.
I quite like this

Funny stuff. (with a few grains of truth)
Gee, no cell phones, internet, WiFi, Blackberrys, iPhones, 3G, 4G, email, electronic money transfers, AAAAAHHHHH....
What would we do, what would we call it?
.....how about the fun, swingin' 1960s
