20 hrs to defrag 1.5GB

This is not the first time this has happened. I have no special options checked under Defrag. Nothing else is happening with the C drive. I have a fairly robust tower, Vista 32bit, with 4 GB of RAM, and a decent SATA drive with plenty of free space. And yet to defrag 1.5GB Defraggler is estimating 20 hours.

This isn't always the case. Last time Defraggler worked expeditiously. Not sure what's going on.

How long does it actually take vs estimation? Tried Windows 7 yet? Kidding!

But yes, the estimation can be waaaaayyyy off for a number of reasons.

Mainly if your doing other things (A/V scan, file copy, installation sets, gaming, etc) while defraggling, it can make it go waaaaay up. Best to leave defraggler as the only process.

Or, if your free space is verrrrrry low, it can make it run really slow.

Oooooor, if you have your drive in PIO mode. Many things.

Could you check to see how long it takes while you are not running anything else & be sure your drive is in DMA instead of PIO mode with plenty of free space for swapping files while defraggling?

Would love if you posted back the actual time & see how it compares.

Thanks!
