[2.19.900] Deleting Firefox Saved Passwords

Guys, please note.

I don't think this is just a CCleaner issue.

I installed Firefox v3.0.10 yesterday, and without running CCleaner, I was unable to log in to any of my sites automatically.

I re-entered all my details again at 5 different places, made sure I wasn't clearing cookies within Firefox itself, and then closed it down.

Once again, without running CCleaner, I went back online and all my login details were gone again.

I binned Firefox completely, as it's either an unsecure old version, or a very problematic latest "secure" one. There are problems all over the internet at the moment with Firefox.

So bear a thought for CCleaners developers as the browser developers are moving the goalposts constantly, and it's one hell of a job keeping up with them.

Just out of interest, I have no problems with Opera.

Maybe you ran CCleaner before updating Firefox?

It's possible this bug corrupted your profile in some way which prevented Firefox from saving passwords again.

If there are a lot of people reporting losing their saved passwords, ever considered maybe these problems are being caused by CCleaner?

Just out of interest, I have no problems with Opera.

Operas settings are saved to a different folder and it has a different way of storing saved passwords. It's very unlikely the same bug would affect both browsers.

DennisD:

It's a CCleaner problem, all right, it's been reported under two topic headings by many users in your CCleaner "bugs" forum.

By not using the Firefox cleaning feature in CCleaner, I've recreated all my saved passwords and gotten my "signons3.txt" back (which took me hours!), which CCleaner deleted, and they have all stayed!

Denying that it is Piriform's problem will not help fix it!

You are wrong! Everyone else in two "bug" forums have found this to be a CCleaner problem! I have never had any issues until the newest version of CCleaner came out!

Well, you guys have complained so much that they decided to remove the behavior...

There is a new version v2.19.901 that puts "Saved Form Information" for Firefox back to how it was.

Even though i don't think this is the correct solution as passwords saved on FF profile folder is a major flaw as anyone can read it using the "key3.db" right there in the same folder!!!

But now you have it back! I hope you enjoy having everyone reading your passwords!

thanks

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ There. I would really like to see you report that one.

I think that you are "making a mountain out of a molehill".

The only passwords I save on Firefox are those to websites where it doesn't matter if someone else accesses them! One would hardly want to save passwords to sites that contain sensitive information about themselves, would one? That's what the "Exceptions" button is for.

All the passwords and user details used for my FF add-ons seem to be getting completely wiped and I suspect it to be on CCleaner's end as it started happening after I installed the latest update. May have to disable said option until the bug is corrected as it is a pain in the butt to re-enter everything :)

Tom.B if you're using 2.19.900 that's now an old version, the newest version is 2.19.901 and is available here.

You should only have ONE version of CCleaner on your computer, and the version number is noted in the upper left-hand corner of the CCleaner screen after the Words CCleaner.com, i.e. "v2.19.901".

Delete all the earlier versions from your computer!

This is of great information to me. From now on I will be using CCleaner.
