strixbubo
After running the last version of CCleaner yesterday I am encountering a serious problem. Everytime I open "my computer", when I click to "drive C", I get the following message : Microsoft visual C ++ runtime library Runtime error ! Program C:\windows\explorer.exe abnormal program termination This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application?s support team for more information OK I have tried to restore my computer to a previous date, but when I click to "performance and maintenance", I get exactly the same error message, which means that I cannot access normally the restoration function any longer... I have then run a chkdsk /F on my C drive, which made my Internet explorer 6 disappear ! I tried to reinstall it but got a message saying that it was impossible, the current version was more recent. I felt that my only choice wast to install Internet explorer 7 (english version). The installation proceeds apparently normally but the program is not installed. I can find no icon, and Mozilla remains the default browser... I have also run a Msconfig, which is another way to to reach the restoration function. Unfortunately I could find no restoration date earlier than today, they were all marked ?windows defender checkpoint?. After trying to install IE7, this installation appears in the restoration panel, despite the fact that the program does not function and is nowhere in sight. If somebody could help, I would appreciate?.
Moderators hazelnut Posted October 28, 2006 Moderators Share Posted October 28, 2006 Did you download the version with the yahoo toolbar installed? As I read on another forum that uninstalling the yahoo or google toolbars from add/remove programs solved their problem. Another person solved their error message by running scans, it was a backdoor virus. Do you have Microsoft Office installed and was it ticked under applications in ccleaner? http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;307817 If you still have problems with system restore go here http://bertk.mvps.org/html/tips.html and part of a forum for system restore problems only http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=54 Do you have xp?
