Constantly reports that there is a new version of CPU-Z, but this is not so.

CCleaner does not correctly compare the version of the CPU-Z application. The new version is 2.05.0.0.0, version 2.05.0.0.0 is installed, but CCleaner says 2.0.5.0.0.

The version numbers shown, although the same, are being parsed differently for some reason.
It does sometimes happen with some softwares depending on how the version number is stored internally.

CPU-Z does seem to be prone to it happening. (We saw the same thing happen with v2.01 of CPU-Z).

I've flagged it up up for someone to take a look at and fix.

I'm not sure what's going on with CPU-Z at the moment.  My free SUMo (Software Update Monitor) v5.17.2 has been detecting a v2.0.5.1 (a.k.a. v2.05.1) update for CPU-Z for a few days and the MajorGeeks site now says it's offering CPU-Z v2.05.1 at https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/cpu_z.html.  However, the English installers currently offered by MajorGeeks are still named cpu-z_2_05-en.xxx and not something like cpu-z_2_05_1-en.xxx.

 

The official CPUID CPU-Z download page at https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html#version-history where I usually get the .zip file for any new CPU-Z Portable releases looks like it's still offering the same v2.05.0 installers that were released on 01-Mar-2023, and if I launch CPU-Z v2.05.0 and check for an update (Tools | Check for a New Version) it reports I'm using the latest version.

There might be a beta version of CPU-Z v2.05.1 being used by a few users,  but if so it shouldn't be detected by my SUMo utility since I have disabled Options | Settings | Allow Beta Versions in SUMo.

Heya, the issue should been fixed by now so it won't appear in Software Updater anymore.

If the Software Updater in CCleaner v6.10 is working correctly it should detect that CPU-Z v2.0.5.1 (a.k.a. v2.05.1)  is actually the latest version.

I downloaded a fresh copy of CPU-Z Portable from https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html today and it appears that a new v2.0.5.1 of CPU-Z was released on Mar-13-2023, even though there's no change to the name of the English installers (i.e., they are all still named cpu-z_2_05-en.xxx)  and there is no mention of a v2.0.5.1 update in the version history <here>.  Here's what today's fresh copy looks like:

 

 

My SUMo (Software Update Monitor) utility now confirms my CPU-Z v2.0.5.1 is up-to-date.

 

My second image <here> in my 16 Mar-2023 post shows that CPU-Z v2.5.0.0 (released 01-Mar-2023)  reported I was fully patched when a self-check for a program update from inside CPU-Z at Tools | Check for a New Version on 16-Mar-2023, so I'm still not sure why that check for a program update from within the 64-bit CPU-Z v2.0.5.0 interface didn't detect that v2.5.0.1 (released 13-Mar-2023) was available.
