With the release of CCleaner (v6.03.10002)

every time I load load CCleaner (x64)(pro mode) it re-enables the disabled Windows Restore feature..

aka System Protection feature...

which will eat up my NVMe's write cycles...

please fix.

I am running Windows 11 Pro x64 v21H2 (build 22000.856)

and CCleaner (v6.03.10002) (pro)

feel free to ask for more details if I missed anything...

Can you say where you are seeing that  Windows restore has  been re-enabled?

In the only place I know to check...

System Advanced properties.

C:\Windows\System32\SystemPropertiesAdvanced.exe

image.png.b67cd3d44f5b7529888ac66ca8cdbe8f.png

its off right now because I switched it off and have not launched CCleaner again since I last shut System Restore off.

CCleaner (v6.03.10002)_setup(Pro) is causing it..

as I didn't see it happen in v6.02.. pretty sure..

but I have verified that its happening as I have re-disabled System Restore, launched CCleaner and rechecked the system restore to find it enabled

BUT! for only the C:\ drive.

I would like to know where I can get the last version too.

To download the standard, slim and portable builds for a current or previous
CCleaner release use the following URLs, where "xxx" is version number,
e.g. "603" for current CCleaner v6.03 release.

https: // download.ccleaner.com /ccsetupxxx.exe

https: // download.ccleaner.com/slim /ccsetupxxx_slim.exe

https: // download.ccleaner.com/portable /ccsetupxxx.zip

For example, the following URLs would be used to download the previous
v6.02 standard and slim and v5.91 portable builds of CCleaner, respectively.

NOTE: CCleaner portable build v5.91 was the last working, i.e. properly
installed, portable build prior to the current v6.03 release.

https://download.ccleaner.com/slim/ccsetup602_slim.exe

https://download.ccleaner.com/portable/ccsetup591.zip

I've directed the attention of developers at this thread hopefully they'll get to it soon

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry that this issue made it out into the wild. We are working on a fix but in the meantime, as some of you have discovered, you can downgrade to v6.02 via this link to avoid this behaviour. You do not need to uninstall, simply installing over the top is fine.

I too would like to know: What is "CCleanerReactivator.exe" ?

.. and why are you registering CCleanerReactivator as a debugger for other programs like f.ex. Acrobat Reader (see picture)?

.. and why is CCleanerPerformanceOptimizerService running in the background despite me having blocked it in Options.

Acrobat Reader had stopped working and even after uninstalling CCleaner it was still disabled because the uninstall program failed to remove this Debugger setting in registry (picture).

After uninstalling CCleaner I got messages like
"Windows cannot find <name of .pdf file>. Make sure you type the name correctly, and then try again."
"Windows cannot find Acrobat.exe. Make sure you type the name correctly, and then try again."

@Igunn

The reactivator executable is part of Performance Optimizer. If you have used said feature to put apps to sleep, then the PO service runs in the background to manage the applications. If no apps are being managed in sleep mode by PO, then the service will deregister and won't run. You can read more about this in the FAQs list inside the Performance Optimizer feature, in the app.

If you uninstalled CCleaner in a normal fashion (e.g. using CCleaner's uninstall.exe) then the service should be deregistered and all apps put back to normal. If you removed CCleaner some other way, then there could be problems. I'll ask the team to look into the debugger resgitry key for Adobe Acrobat Reader to make sure this isn't the cause of the behaviour you describe.
