Moderators hazelnut Posted August 20, 2006 Moderators Share Posted August 20, 2006 I have just realised that when I type some text, and I want to delete it, I can just highlight and press the space bar ( no other key). I always thought I had to use the delete key with highlighted text! Moderators Andavari Posted August 20, 2006 Moderators Share Posted August 20, 2006 I remember reading about that in a Windows 98 tip book from ages ago when I first got a computer. It's a handy tip.

Jack_BMN
all you're doing is replacing the highlighted text with a space " ". can do that with any key, so if i typed "blah blah blah" and highlighted the middle blah and pressed "a" i would get "blah a blah"
krit86lr
so if i typed "blah blah blah" and highlighted the middle blah and pressed "a" i would get "blah a blah" Yeah, that's how I edit text. I still think the spacebar thing is cool. Capman
all you're doing is replacing the highlighted text with a space " ". Exactly, so you end up with a space that needs deleting which has made it twice the work. ROFLMFAO
zaphirer
Also, if you use control + backspace, you delete by word. That's probably my personal-most-used shortcut. I also use some of the Window keys, i.e., Windows + D shows the desktop, Windows + E shows My Computer, etc.
