mps69_1999
Can someone explain/help me with a frustrating problem? I?m working on 2 pc's at work, same build, similar software etc. The problem is when I use explorer. I use folder view, as you look at the screen in the right window I?ve got folder and files. Normally I would double click the folders and it would open them, but that doesn?t happen, it open the search box. When I right click, search is the first option. My other PC explorer is first. How the heck did this happen I don?t know, but I?d love to have explorer as the first option again, how do I do it. I can't get into the registry as the PC is locked down to the admin guys only, so that's out I'm afraid. My Webpage Googletalk
JohnDemolition
i've had a similar problem. Microsoft just isn't very good at solving bugs. anyways, my problem happened when i replaced the folder icon via Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types. the only thing that actually worked for me was a System Restore

TonyKlein
Normally I would double click the folders and it would open them, but that doesn?t happen, it open the search box. It's a well known issue. You can run this script: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_folder_open.htm It's specifically designed to fix it Tony CLSID List - A Collection of Autostart Locations
Moderators Andavari Posted August 18, 2006 Moderators Share Posted August 18, 2006 It's unfortunate MS allows things to be easily broken via Folder Options. Luckily the fix is easy.
