Import and export complete settings

You can do that by saving the settings to a .ini file.

Options>Advanced.

I'm always changing settings to test things so keep a 'ccleaner.ini' backup to put my own settings back afterwards.

See here about saving and usung .ini files:

https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360047940232-What-do-CCleaner-for-Windows-s-INI-files-do-#what-ccleaner-ini-files-are-for--0-1

There is also a winapp2 sub-forum on here if you want to do more cleaning and not just save your settings for re-use or use on a different computer.

Zkoušel jsem to jednou a pak jsem měl problém s nastavením CCleaner.

Píšu přes Google Translator Mluvím pouze česky.

I tried it once and then I had a problem setting up CCleaner.

I write via Google Translator I only speak Czech.

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

I am also using Google translate.

No problem, I just wanted to give the developers an incentive to improve CCleaner's ability to export and import all the settings of this program.

As said above 'Save all settings to INI file' already does that.

I did that and then I had a problem with minor settings changes that I wanted to make directly in CCleaner. After making a change in the program, I got the error that the selection cannot be made or something like that, so I prefer not to do it.

What were the 'minor settings changes'?

Are you using CCleaner Free?
Some settings can only be changed in CCleaner Pro.

Jaké byly „drobné změny nastavení“?

Používáte CCleaner Free?
Některá nastavení lze změnit pouze v CCleaner Pro.

Using an INI file does not prevent you from changing the settings, the INI only saves the changes made.

I'm afraid that without knowing the settings, it's hard to say more about why you couldn't change them.

Misunderstanding.

I didn't want to see your settings.

I said that if we don't know what settings you couldn't change, then we have no way of knowing why you couldn't change them.

Well ... I don't know anymore .... it's been about 2 years since I tried it and I wasn't able to.

I don't know what else to say except that whatever the problem was it was unlikely to have been caused by having an INI file.

The problem could have been that CCleaner needed to be run as administrator. I currently have run as administrator saved in my CCleaner shortcut because if I don't Windows 10 won't allow it to clean some things.

What conditions do I have to meet in order for the * .ini file to be copied to the folder where CCleaner is installed?

  1. Open CCleaner
  2. go to Options>Advanced
  3. tick the 'Save all settings to INI file'

CCleaner will immediately create the "CCleaner.ini" file in the same folder where CCleaner is installed.

Once you have a "CCleaner.ini" saved in that folder then CCleaner will always use the saved settings that it contains.

As long as you keep that setting ticked then CCleaner will update CCleaner.ini each and every time that you change a setting.

Note that if you untick that setting then any existing "CCleaner.ini" file will be deleted, so that it doesn't still get used each time you open CCleaner.
(If you want to keep a copy of it then rename "CCleaner.ini" to something else before unticking the box, or copy it to a different folder for backup).

Export and Import:
Once you have a "CCleaner.ini" then you can simply copy it to the CCleaner folder on a different computer to use the same settings with the CCleaner installed on that computer.
