Zardoz
When cleaning with CCleaner, it asks to stop some running applications (e.g. browsers). However, it happens that we absolutely do not want to stop them because they perform a long-term task or that we cannot or do not want to start again. One should then be able to abort the cleanup command from CCleaner, but there is no button available to do so. The only recourse is to kill the CCleaner task in the task manager... Another annoyance is that the CCleaner icon and task remains active with an icon in the system taskbar at the bottom right, regardless of the choice about it in the application settings, and even if the automatic start of the application has been deactivated. Moderators nukecad Posted January 23, 2022 Moderators Share Posted January 23, 2022 You should see button to let you 'Skip' the cleaning without closing the Browser/app. Are you using Health Check or Custom Clean? (The message is slightly different in each). Your other query: The icon in your system tray is put there by Windows if you have either 'Smart Cleaning' or 'Updates' enabled in your CCleaner Options. Either of those runs as a background task, so Windows puts an icon for it in the tray. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Zardoz
Where is the "Skip" button, please? Thank you for the second question: I had the "Smart Cleaning" already disabled, but the "Keep CCleaner updated automatically" was the culprit! Zardoz
Got it! I can deselect apps that need to be closed! Sorry for my inattention...
Moderators nukecad Posted January 23, 2022 Moderators Share Posted January 23, 2022 No problem, I agree that it is not very intuitive in Health Check that you need to untick that box. PS. In Health Check you do have to untick it every time that you clean and the browser is still running. That's why I asked which you were using. It's a different message/tickbox in Custom Clean, and Custom Clean can remember so you only have to do it once not everytime. Once Custom Clean is told not to clean an open browser and 'don't show this message again' is also ticked then if that browser is open it will always be skipped by Custom Clean. Examples from Custom Clean (Firefox but it would be the same for Chrome): *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'?
