New Google Drive - Logins being cleared. [Solved]

Recommended Posts

After I migrating from Google's Backup and Sync to Google Drive (both desktop apps), my Google Drive is forgetting login information after I run CCleaner's Custom Clean with all options on.
This didn't take place with Backup and Sync.
Would anyone here have any hint which options should I disable on CCleaner so that my Google Drive desktop app stops forgetting my login info?

For a browser it is clearing 'Session' that removes the currently-logged-in, open tab, etc. information.

I'm not familiar with Google Drive, but I don't think it has it's own section in CCleaners Custom Clean?
Are you using the winapp2.ini addition by any chance, I believe that Google Drive is included there.

If you are not using winapp2 then I'd try unticking 'Session' for Chrome as a first step.
(They may well be sharing the same file locations).

PS. Are the logins still cleared if you use Health Check instead of Custom Clean?

Hello !
Thanks for taking some time to reply to this inquiry.
I could not find a Google Drive section on CCleaner.
About winapp2.ini, I'm not using it. At least not that I'm aware of.
Unticking Chrome didn't do the trick. I tried unticking everything from Chrome and Firefox also. I tried Firefox as well because when the Google Drive app starts, it opens my default browser (Firefox) and asks for my Google's login info.
I just tried the Health Check function and it didn't erase the Google Drive login. At least some good news.
My post here has something to do with me being lazy and not wanting to test every single option from the Custom Clean job. : )

I felt bad for writing that I was lazy and tried multiple cleaning options by adding stuff from scratch.
It turns out it was "Network Passwords" from the "Windows Explorer" group under the "Windows" tab from "Custom Clear" that was erasing the Google Drive login.
This probably is related to how Backup and Sync used to work and how Google Drive creates a virtual drive or something like that.
All good now. Thanks !

Glad you found the cause. (Good testing)

That "Network Passwords" option is unselected by default (and Health Check's rules wouldn't include it for cleaning) so it shouldn't bother anyone who doesn't tick it themselves in Custom Clean.

Still the information may be of help to others, so I'll change the thead title so that anyone who is having the same problem can find it more easily.
