Backup REG-files placed on Desktop?!

Hi everyone,

I am a longtime user of CCleaner, but I am new to this forum.
I know that CCleaner creates REG-files i.g. "cc_20211009_170116.reg" if the Registry cleaner has been activated.
So far so good!
But lately (I think since v5.85.9170) these REG-files are placed on the Desktop instead of C:\Users\<userprofile>\ !!

How is this possible and more importantly: WHY?

Does anybody have any ideas?

the default place should be documents I believe. It remembers the last location so maybe you chose desktop inadvertently?

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

First of all, thanks for your reply and YES you're right the default folder is indeed C:\Users\<userprofile>\Documents👍

My question however is:  HOW or WHERE does one select a different folder, inadvertently or otherwise? 😳

when it goes to save you're offered an explorer window to choose.

Wow!  After using CCleaner for so long, I never realized this.... I just clicked on "Yes", "Save" etcetera.

I expected a "Save to folder"-setting somewhere, but I couldn't find it....duh! 😳🥺

Thanks for bringing me back to earth: making me more aware of my movements around the app!

Cool name BTW.... Nergal😉
