Dan T 0
Last year I read sometime around 2015 maybe 2016 a virus found a back door issue in ccleaner and was able to gain access into the program and it was not found for awhile. I tried to reach out to cleverbridge/ccleaner but never got an answer. Because I referred ccleaner to a few friends I feel I need to find out if this has been corrected. Does anyone recall this from around 2015 and do you know if this has been corrected and/or fixed?
Moderators Nergal 0 Posted March 25 Moderators Share Posted March 25 One version of ccleaner had a virus hidden in it. This was fixed nearly immediately after it was discovered. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. CCLEANER, RECUVA, DEFRAGGLER AND SPECCY DOCUMENTATION CAN BE FOUND AT https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us and https://www.ccleaner.com/docs Pro users file a PRIORITY SUPPORT request at https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/requests/new link to WINAPP2.INI explanation
