Five minutes ago someone started ringing a handbell on the marketplace ouside my house.

It's a small, socially distanced, parade with a santa on a reindeer pulled sleigh, they've just headed off down the main shopping street.

But for a moment there I thought it was a new lockdown measure and was half expecting to hear cries of 'Bring out you dead'.

In October my Facebook feed was full of ads for Plague Doctor costumes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plague_doctor).  Although news items like this from back in May indicated that wandering around in such things are not well received by other members of the general public https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-52533718

I've seen that image before for years (even on album covers) but never knew what it meant until now.
