yours3lf
Just built this pc. Speccy reports my cpu is 90 degrees c. My Ryzen master says its 30 degrees c. Specs are as follows. neil_whitehorn
I'm running windows 10 home, Speccy reads the processor as running at around 90'C. I believe that this reading is wrong because the system has been on for a while with no issues no signs of heating problems, and every other hardware monitor i could find says that cpu temps are normal including MSIs hardware monitor for this specific mobo Manufacturer - MSI Model - X470 GAMING PRO CARBON (MS-7B78) (AM4) Version - 1.0 Chipset Vendor - AMD Chipset Model - Ryzen SOC Chipset Revision - 00 Ryzen 7 2700x this seems to be a common issue among ryzen processors

stualden
AMD A10-7850K, Kaveri 28nm Technology on an ASUS A99X-Pro motherboard Speccy reports at least 38 degrees higher than the AI Suite 3 reports (and the latter is definitely in the right ballpark). I'm curious - what causes this bug and why is it so hard to fix?
Moderators mta Posted March 10, 2019 Moderators Share Posted March 10, 2019 g'day Stu and welcome to the forum, "what causes this bug?" - DAMN Stu, you ask the hard questions don't you? with complete lack of answers, despite repeated attempt by us Mods and implied by each and every post in this thread, no one knows. 'why so hard to fix?' - well, you can only assume it's nigh on impossible, or their care factor is zero or the Devs have been told to relegate it so low as they deliver very important, necessary features like pop-ups, licensing checks and beta features like software versioning checks no-one saw coming. (yep, that was sarcasm) there's nothing like something new and sparkly to divert one's attention I guess. ArchAngle
Are not these sort of reports about incorrect system information just more indications that Speccy badly needs updating? In reply to another thread last week about similar matters my research suggested Speccy may use CPUID's CPU-Z driver and in particular CPUZ143 a version which is over two years old. That is how Speccy is reported by Process Hacker 2 ie. in Services as CPUZ143: Driver. I can't remember the last time Speccy was updated but my installation of v1.32.740 shows that as dated 2018 so it might not have been updated since then. Is it any wonder it can not report accurately/correctly information about and for some new hardware. EDIT 1 Just been checking CPU-Z and it comes with a ReadMe including a changelog history. That details all the support changes made since May 2017 which was when the CPUZ143 driver was first used. There were actually a number of version of CPU-Z after that which updated the driver support but not the driver itself. If I'm right about all this and Speccy is using the CPUZ143 driver dating from May 2017 (CPU-Z v1.79.1) it explains pretty much all the problems described here and in other threads. CPU-Z History.txt EDIT 2 I had not thought to check Speccy thoroughly until this weekend (19.01.20) when I found Defraggler was incorrectly reporting two HDDs as SSDs on one PC. On one of my PCs Speccy v1.32.740 is also showing the same HDDs as SSDs too. Not checked any other yet. I'm going to try reverting to the previous version which I think is v1.28 something. timbolonius
Speccy currently shows wrong CPU temperature. Says it's running over 80c. Gigabyte mobo utility has the temp running at less than half of that, roughly 34c. Installed two other monitoring software and they too validate what the Gigabyte utility states.
