grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I've gotten 3 popups today! What's going on? I scanned like crazy and everything came up clean. The popups are Flash so I can't use Adblock to block them.

HEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!! I'm so sad. :(:(:(

Where are you getting them from?(like what sites..unless they're bad. :P)

I don't know. It has to be from one of my home pages because that's all that's open.

CCleaner

LunarSoft

Myspace

TOP

TAH

The popups are like www.poker.com (that one I was able to block), and then the other 2 were Flash so I just closed them out.

And NO! Nothing bad. Get your heads out of the gutter people.

hmm, i'm willing to bet that you got something from myspace. that place is evil in many ways....thats why i deleted my account long ago, and i didnt want to be ascociated with anything to do with myspace...you know, giving my carreer field.

I never click on Ads so that isn't the issue here.

AHAHAH see what happens when you let people pursuade you into things... POPUPS!!!!

nah just kidding, but I bet MP is right. Myspace is evil.

CCleaner was the open tab when the last popup occurred, if that makes any difference.

It wouldn't matter what tab you were looking at if you still had a myspace tab open. Your still connected to the site when a tab is open even if your not focused on that one at the moment.

So-called "tweak" sites say to "use" a pagefile that's 2.5 times your installed memory. However in my opinion it's just some old legacy crap from the Win9x days that doesn't make much of a noticable difference. Other than that using a customized pagefile can cause a horde of memory related issues such as; an app that typically never gives any problems may all of a sudden start barking about being out of memory.

Use Firefox 1.5.0.4 and be sure it is set in Tools->Options to "Block Popup Windows".

For other banners, you can use the adblock extension.

Also some scan with different scanners to be sure you don't have adware on your computer, because then it can be a program that sits in the background and triggers on words then displays a popup.

Use Ad-Aware, and HijackThis...

For all of you myspace haters,,,myspace isn't the culprit. It's either CCleaner or gmail. Because I'm on my work machine right now, which has Adblock Plus, and gmail and CCleaner are the only tabs open and I just got a popup. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr This is driving me nuts.

okay, rant over

i got a popup from it earlier today for the first time.
