wkaatz
I want to reset duplicate file finder. In the include are a number of drives, however the edit and or remove choices are grayed out. This happens even when even when I checkmark the drive Am I missing something? Thanks
Moderators nukecad Posted May 9, 2020 Moderators Share Posted May 9, 2020 You can't remove a drive itself, just untick it and the Duplicate Finder will ignore it. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? wkaatz
Well what does edit and remove do, and how are they turned on?
Moderators nukecad Posted May 9, 2020 Moderators Share Posted May 9, 2020 They become available if/when you have created one, or more, fuller search string (pathname) than just the drive letter(s). eg. If you use 'Add' to create 'C:\Documents\*.*' to only search that documents folder (if nothing else is ticked), then by later selecting that string the buttons become available so that you will be able to edit or remove it. You may benefit from reading the documentation for the Duplicate Finder which can be found here:https://www.ccleaner.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner/finding-duplicate-files *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? wkaatz
OK, I think I understand now. One last question...in Include, if I only have c:\*.* and d:\*.*, there is no way to edit or delete, correct? BTW...thanks for the help! Moderators nukecad Posted May 10, 2020 Moderators Share Posted May 10, 2020 That's correct the basic/default C:\*.*, and any other drives on your computer, cannot be removedfrom Duplicate Finder or edited, only enabled or disabled by ticking or unticking them. If something is unticked then it will not be searched. You can add as many other search locations as you like, and enable/disable them as you like by ticking, plus edit and remove them. So taking my screenshot above : As it stands with just 'C:\Documents\*.*' ticked then running Duplicate finder would only search that folder for duplicates and not the rest of the disc(s). I could also create 'C:\Documents\*.*' and 'D:\Documents\*.*' (and 'E:\Documents\*.*') and have just those 2 (3) ticked to only look for duplicates in those ticked directories without searching the rest of the drives. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'?
