Browser Code Origin Info Requested

I'm curious about the origins of this new browser code.  Is it a grounds-up effort by Piriform?  Does it use any open-source code?  Chromium based, maybe?  I'm really hesitant to use it until I know a bit more about it, without the marketing jargon.
