Moderators hazelnut Posted April 25, 2020 Moderators Share Posted April 25, 2020 What operating system are you using? What security software do you run? Did CCleaner work for you previously or is this the first time you have used it? Where did you download it from? Moderators hazelnut Posted April 25, 2020 Moderators Share Posted April 25, 2020 First thing I would try is a RESTART of your machine (just in case Windows has been updating in the background) Did you use the registry cleaner part of CCleaner? JT1
Thanks for the reply BTW! I did restart - still no go! I have used the registry cleaner in the past, but not recently. Everything else is running as normal At a stand still now since I can't run, delete (uninstall) or re-install it! APMichael
End all tasks with "CCleaner" in their name. According to the screenshot this would be the task: "CCleaner emergency updater (32 bit)". Hopefully it should work after that.
Admin Dave CCleaner Posted April 25, 2020 Admin Share Posted April 25, 2020 <not an official technical answer> I observe that the C:\Program Files\CCleaner folder contents look like this: ... and going back through historical notes I have not seen reference to ccsystem.dll for 12+ years ... possibly dating back to the days when CCleaner was built in VB. Is it possible that you were either running an extremely old CCleaner, or still have remnants of a very old version sitting in that directory?
