What is cleaned in MS Search ?

Application tab>Windows>MS Search

What does this clean?  I know it says MS search but I am not sure what that is or where to find it.  For example, is that the search function I am using when I search for a file in Windows Explorer?  Is it the search used when I use the search box in the task bar?

If I tick the box next to it will it mess up indexing and Windows will have to index again?  I have used Ccleaner for years and never ticked the box because I thought it would corrupt Indexing but maybe it just removes the list of searchs I have done somewhere in Windows.

Haven't got a clue, and this sort of information is kept close to the developers chests.

Try right clicking on it and picking analyze from the context menu to see if it finds anything on your machine.
It doesn't find anything on mine currently, but I don't use search much anyway.

(It take a guess at: "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Temp\" but that is a guess).

If you /export it it doesn't show? Is it a special key?  Can't check myself at this time as i'm away from my PC.

It cleans .log files located in this path:

%CommonAppData%\Microsoft\Search|*.log|RECURSE

 

Which is the same path as (on Win10):

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search

Andavari, thanks for the path. It would be helpful to know if checking all the Windows boxes gets me much and if there's any danger of deleting something of value. Actually, is there a list somewhere of Windows items to check or to avoid using the same criteria as above (Windows Explorer, System, Advanced)? Thanks.

Most of what's listed under 'Advanced' can be left alone, especially things like Windows Event Logs I'd personally never clean since that can give a clue to what's wrong with a PC.

One thing in 'Advanced' that helps is when you've manually configured CCleaner in 'Options > Include' to delete a particular file or contents of a folder (such as: C:\Temp, or a software that isn't already cleaned by CCleaner, etc.,). Then under 'Advanced' you'd have to enable/tick 'Custom Files and Folders' otherwise it wouldn't clean your manually configured Include.
