winamp not working

Recommended Posts

I added this to the winapp.ini file

[Winamp]

LangSecRef=3022

Detect=HKCU\Software\Winamp

Default=True

RegKey1=HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Winamp|UninstallString

FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\Winamp|winamp.m3u

FileKey2=%ProgramFiles%\Winamp\Plugins\ml|recent.dat

FileKey3=%ProgramFiles%\Winamp\Plugins\ml\cache|*

FileKey3=%userprofile%\Application Data\Winamp\Plugins\ml|recent.dat

FileKey4=%userprofile%\Application Data\Winamp|winamp.m3u

FileKey5=%userprofile%\Application Data\Winamp\Plugins\ml\Cache|*

I ran ccleaner and the last played file still appeared in winamp. Can someone clarify please?

No idea, as I'm not running Winamp myself...

However, although I don't know who submitted this particular winapp2.ini entry, I do question this line:

RegKey1=HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Winamp|UninstallString

It nukes Winamp's uninstall string, making it impossible to uninstall the application the proper way through add-remove programs... :rolleyes:

Hi,

The mods should have been added to winapp2.ini - not winapp.ini - - -

Hello and welcome :)

I'm not good with the entries, but I DO know that you should not be modifying the winapp.ini file. You should only make modifications to the winapp2.ini file. Also, it is always a good idea to post your entries so that an experienced person can tell you if it's good and whether or not you need to make changes before using the entries.

Good Luck.

K

Also, someone ought to REMOVE that RegKey1 line from there, as all it does is cripple Winamp's uninstaller.

It is NO MRU item.

Note, this Winamp entry IS already part of the present winapp2.ini, which is why it's particularly important that someone edit it...

[edit] I just PM'd TwistedMetal ; hope he'll take care of it soon... [/edit]
