Can you see what section it is getting stuck on?

If you are using easy clean the section it's stuck on should be show underneath '# Trackers' and/or '#MB of Junk'.
If you are using Custom Clean is should be shown at the top of the results window.

Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Worried about why some files come back after cleaning? See this link:

  • 1 month later...

I`m having the same problem using vers. 5.64.7613 (64bit). On the Custom Clean it stops on System Temporary files at 36%, on the Health Check at 45%. Win 10 Pro. When I try to cancel the program won`t respond, just says "cancelling" but does nothing except the little swirly wheel that goes on and on and on...…….. When I press the red "X" I get the message that the program is not responding and that a report must be sent before shutting down. Should I try an uninstall/reinstall and would I need a new key if that is the case? I don´t have a copy on the ssd, I`d have to download a fresh copy.

I'd first try the corrupted Recycle Bin fix, it often clears most hangs:
We seem to be seeing a lot of corrupted bins recently, maybe some problem with Windows?

If you do at anytime need to download/reinstall CCleaner then simply go to Options>About>Upgrade to Pro, enter your already registered name and key, then click on 'Register'

I´ve done the Recycle Bin fix-no problem there but the basic problem still exists, CCleaner is still unuseable. Win 10 Pro w/ latest update (1909), HP Zbook 15 G2 w/500 Gb mSata SSD primary HD. Is an uninstall/reinstall a viable option? Please advise!

If you untick 'System>Temporary files' and run a Custom Clean does it finish then?

If so, then that would indicate that there is a problem with one of those system files.

Another trick that often works if/when CC gets stuck like this is to run the built in Windows Disk Clean-up.
Because it's Windows itself it can force close problem files that CCleaner can't.
In this case I'd run it twice, once for normal files, then again but this time select 'Clean up system files'. I'd then do a restart (not a shutdown).
