Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder Options check Show hidden files and folders. Open sysoc.inf in the C:\WINDOWS\inf Then press Ctrl+H to open the Replace Wizard. In Replace Wizard: Find what: ,hide, Replace with: ,, Then go to control panel Add/Remove , if there were any hidden components they should now show. Hi Humpty, I used your "tip" because I was showing 14 items in the Uninstall Tools section of CCleaner that were not showing in the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Now, when I click on Add/Remove Windows Components, I get a Dialog Box pop up saying: "Setup was unable to open information file hide. Contact your system administrator. The specific error code is 0x2 at line 2088999411." ....following by a second Dialog Box saying: "The application could not be initialized." Is there something I could do to fix this? Moderators Andavari Posted July 14, 2006 Moderators Share Posted July 14, 2006 More than likely they're components of a main application you've installed, for instance Kodak camera software creates allot of entries that are hidden however they're a part of the main application and removing them "may or will" break a portion of the main application. What I would like to know is how do I "undo" the actions that I performed in that "tip" posted by Humpty. I believe that tweak I did is preventing me from accessing "Add/Remove Windows Components". What you changed to: ,, You change back to: ,hide, Too bad you didn't make a backup copy before changing things, which is a hint for in the future make a backup before following advice.
