5.60 Update Problem

My apologies if I'm rehashing this topic but I have read the other threads and none of them seem to apply to my situation.

OS = Windows 10 with latest update

Apps and Features = Anywhere

McAfee Antivirus = Real time scanning shut down + Firewall shut down

Download CC 5.60 Free = OK

Install = Gets to window with install button and click

Install bar flashes green twice, install window closes and install fails = no further activity

So far 10+ attempts to update including multiple fresh downloads & uninstalls

Frustration has lead to using Windows Disk Cleaner... which I hate

Been using CCleaner for years and never had this happen before

Can you try downloading and installing the slim build from here (last item)

Also before you run the installer make sure in your Windows taskmanager that no instances of CCleaner are already running.

Followed CCleaner builds link downloaded 5.61 slim and installed... hazelnut 

All appears good and functioning properly...

The "Slim Build" leaves out the optional third party offers in the installation process that fund the distribution of the free version.  It was originally created for folks who were getting false positive alerts on the Google Toolbar offer.  Although the Google Toolbar offer was removed as of version 5.58 (back in June) we have retained the Slim Build for vision-impaired users whose screen-readers may have trouble with the extra information on the installer screen, and handle some additional installation problems.

Should generally try the full version first though. The Slim Build is often released at the same time as the regular build - but not always.
